2006 Technology on the Horizon Report
The New Media Consortium and Educause have collaborated to release a PDF of the 2006 Horizon Report on emerging technologies likely to have a significant effect on higher education. They discuss online collaboration tools, video/podcasting, cell phones, videogames, immersive 3D worlds, and context-aware computing. They write as if these are going have a big impact in years to come, but in reality most of these are already pervasive now and already having an impact, although not causing any radical changes to higher ed.
