Ubuntu 7.10 Linux Distro Released: Ubuntu Gutsy

The free Linux operating system distro Ubuntu 7.10, aka “Gutsy Gibbon”, was officially released today. It’s got a few warts that will be ironed out in future updates, but it already has many improvements over the last version (Feisty) to justify upgrading. If you are already using Feisty though, you might want to hold off a bit or do a separate test install first. I’m hoping to introduce my undergrad students to Ubuntu on the last day of class, to show how they can do the same things in Linux that they’ve been doing in Mac OS X and XP, for example kdenlive for video editing.
